User Services: Overview

The Library's friendly user services staff is ready to assist you! Visit the user services desk to check-out, renew, or return any Library materials, including course reserves. The user services team manages all circulation-related Library services.

Contactless Pickup

Use the “Place Request” link in our Discovery Service to place your request. The link will be present only for collection materials that can be checked out at this time.  You can view how to make a request here: https://bit.ly/3gZ7sI6

Once the Library receives the request, we will precheck-out your item/items. An email will then be sent to the requestor notifying them they can pick up the items at the Clark Family Library. Requested items will be held for 5 business days. After that, to make space for other requests, we will remove the items, check them in and reshelve them.  

Currently, we are filling pickup requests within one or two business days due to lower staffing level, and workflows that have been modified to protect staff and patrons. Turnaround times also depend on the volume of requests. If you have any questions about requesting materials or pick up of materials, call 724-223-6070.

Borrowing / Fine Policies

User services policies are designed to ensure that materials are returned on time and in good condition for use by as many people as possible.

Present your W&J ID card at the user services desk along with the items you wish to borrow. Borrowed items must be returned by the date stamped on each item's date due slip. You will also receive an email receipt of your checkouts and due dates.  Borrowers must have their W&J ID card to check out materials from the Library.  The borrower is responsible for any fines or replacement charges they may incur.  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call our main number (724) 223-6070.

Policy at a glance:

  • Books are due at the end of the semester.
  • There is no limit on book or DVD check-outs to current students or faculty.
  • Overdue fines for books, CDs, and Plays are $.10 per day per item.
  • DVD loan period for students, faculty, and staff is 7 days.
  • Overdue fines on videos are $2 per day.
  • Periodicals do not circulate.

RENEWING MATERIALS

Renewals are permitted for items that do not have a hold or recall placed on them.

Materials may be renewed:

  • online via Geotom, the Library's catalog.
    • Login with your ID number located on your swipe.  The first time you login, your password is CHANGEME.  It is recommended that you change this to a more secure password.
  • in person at the user services desk
