If you find a resource that you believe will be useful for your research and that you cannot access either because it is behind a paywall or the library does not have it, please submit a request for it via Interlibrary Loan. You can complete the ILL form here: http://libguides.washjeff.edu/ill
Articles are scanned and shared as PDFs. Typically you'll receive your article within two business days and then the PDF is yours to keep. Books arrive in at least 7 days and must be returned like any other library book. There is no charge for ILL requests and no limit to how many requests you can make.
Need help? Just ask! Librarians can typically determine whether or not we have full-text access to a resource very quickly. If we don't have it, we'll help you complete the ILL form.
Call numbers are a book's address on the physical shelf. If you are ever looking for books relating to topics in Data Science, the sections below are good places to start. Not sure where the books are in the library? Check out the library map below or ask at the front desk.
The Library of Congress classification and subject headings systems are large and complex systems subject to government approval, and as a result, sometimes the process to update the classifications and subject headings to their most current terms, especially those pertaining to race, gender, and sexuality, can be slow. Please feel free to ask a librarian more about how the classification and subject headings systems are structured, their biases, and current efforts to improve the terminology within them.
Use EBSCO Discovery Service to search all of the Library's databases at once.
In addition to the journals above to which we have immediate access, there are more Data Science journals available only through the ILL.
Browsing or searching journals is useful when you already have a specific topic/focus for your research. For example, if you are researching slavery you might want to take a look at the journal titled Civil War History.
