FYS 199-15 Good News - Clark - Fall 2024: Finding Articles, Books, and News Sources

Evaluating Sources

Questions to ask while evaluating a source:

  • What type of source is it (book, journal article, magazine article, website, etc.)?
  • How old is it?
  • What do you know about the author?
  • Does the author document their sources?
  • How objective is the content?

What is a credible source?

Credible sources are written by authors respected in their fields of study. Responsible, credible authors will cite their sources so that you can check the accuracy of and support for what they've written.

Search library resources for articles

Search using the keywords you found in your background research and keywords that help to find specific views on a topic. (See the "Beginning your research" tab in this guide for more.)

Current News Sources

Interlibrary Loan

If we do not have immediate access to the article you find in a database, you can use the "Access Options" choice under the article to fill out an Interlibrary Loan form to request the article from another library.

If that option is unavailable, you can use our interlibrary loan service to request articles.

Use E-ZBorrow to request books.
