Information about library services during the Summer

Building Access

Girl sitting on tire swing reading in the sun. During the summer, our hours of operation are Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm. During these hours the library building is open by swipe access only. If you have issues with your swipe, please call the main library number (724) 223-6070, in order to be let in. These hours are subject to change so check the calendar on our homepage or our social media for the most up to date information. Facebook - Twitter - Instagram

Online resources are available 24/7 when you access using your W&J login credentials. For a refresher on accessing library resources remotely, check out our guide Accessing Library Resources Remotely.

For physical items, we ask that you continue to place requests for item pick up via DiscoveryFor instruction on how to place requests check out our Finding Books LibGuide, scroll to the bottom of the page and watch the Managing Your Library Account video.

Research & Reference Services

During Summer Session I (June 7-July 2) and Summer Session II (July 12-August 6), reference services will be available through the library's chat services during our regular hours of operation. 

At other times during the summer, we encourage you to contact your subject liaison librarian directly for in-depth questions. For more general questions, we suggest calling the main number for the library, (724) 223-6070 or emailing asklib@washjeff.edu.

Teaching & Instruction

Librarians are available to provide information literacy instruction during Summer Session courses and will collaborate with instructors as needed.

Planning for Fall Courses?

The library offers many online and electronic resources (books, articles, images, and streaming video) that you can add to your Sakai site for your students to access. Contact your subject liaison librarian for assistance locating appropriate resources and sharing the permalinks.

The library continues to acquire new materials. See our Purchase Requests page for more information. 

Returning Materials

Students: All library items are due back at the end of each semester. Library items can be returned in our book drop at any time. Long overdue items could be assumed lost, in which case the borrower is charged the cost of replacing the item.

Faculty: Due dates for faculty and staff are variable. If you have overdue items, please renew or return them. Contact the library with questions or for assistance with the renew and return processes.
