Global Gender Issues

Take a minute to watch this video for a quick reminder about the information cycle. It's helpful to think about which sources are created after an event occurs and the length of time it takes for certain sources to be created.

Since you're focusing on something that is fairly recent - the treatment of women and LGBTQIA+ persons in Afghanistan since the Taliban regained power, it might be good to think about what sources exist on this exact topic.

It's not that you won't find any scholarly sources on this topic, but your scholarly sources are more likely to be about something that gives the current situation context, rather than about the current situation itself.

Please contact a librarian for help if you're struggling to find sources.

Searching Discovery

Remember when you're searching Discovery you are searching all of the library's databases. This is a broad search and will bring back a lot of results. Consider changing to the Advanced Search interface to help search using multiple keywords with Boolean operators.  See the screen grab below for an example of advanced searching. For the best advice on searching Discovery, contact a librarian for help.
